ABOUT THE ARTIST
As an emerging artist, Tom Costigan creates pieces that explore the intersection of Pop Art and Street Art.
This artistic journey began as a hobby during college in St. Louis, MO. After befriending a local graffiti artist and watching the Banksy documentary Exit Through the Gift Shop, Tom was inspired to create his own stencils and spray paint them. Over the years, Tom continued to hone the craft as a hobby as he continued through academia, eventually completing his PhD in Philosophy. After finishing grad school, making art shifted from a hobby to his primary focus.
Tom’s work is characterized by bold colors and repeating images. Using intricate stencils and vibrant spray paint colors, they aim to evoke a sense of familiarity and playfulness and invite viewers to look at everyday objects in a new light.
